"Russell is certainly not the best player ever:
~ he sabotaged his own tribe, causing them to go into a merge down in numbers
~ he wasn't able to get Ashley voted out the tribal that Ben left, and he wasn't able to get Elisabeth out the night that Ashley went, and if he were so awesome he would have been able to swing more than 60% of the pre-merge boots his way
~ he was an obvious goat who anyone could beat in the finals, which is why nobody voted him out, not becuase he controlled them
~ he developed no relationships with anyone besides Shambo

All he did was claim that every vote was his idea in his confessionals, even though the Foa Foa four made all of those decisions together. CBS just happened to show Russell for like 90% of the time so everyone thinks he is amazing. He is an agressive player, but his skill in the game is actually quite poor. That being said, I'm sure he could be the best scavenger hunter of all previous survivors, if thats any consolation to him."

Russell may be the player who's played the game the hardest, but no way was he the best ever. He had no social game, none. You don't have to be a goody two shoes nor be friendly with everyone in the jury to win Survivor but you CAN NOT win if everyone hates your guts, which in Samoa they clearly did. And it was all his fault, you can't blame the others for being bitter or whatever either - there's been a few winners who weren't well-liked in the past but there never have been one who was so disliked. You can't be an arse and expect to win the Jury vote, it's as simple as that, Survivor is still a social game after all is said and done.
